When I got home from Michigan I found that Phillip had taken the '78 Camaro apart. Aaaarrrgggg!!!! It's not as bad as the '68 is, but I can see it going that way. He did warn me before I got home that I would see lots of pieces in the garage!
We've had a slow week this week...not much going on. We did take a trip to the Zoo. I figured it would be a great time to go since schools just started and haven't scheduled field trips there yet. We got rock star parking right up by the front entrance! We quickly found out why no one was at the Zoo...many of the exhibits were closed! We love, love going to the Lorikeet exhibit because the birds sit on your shoulders, head, hand or any other extremity that happens to be handy. They peck at shoelaces (or toes if you're wearing sandals!) and you can feed them. But it was only open from 10 to 2. And we got there too late. The Cheetah exhibit, which is brand new and we haven't seen it yet, was closed also. But we did go to the Manatees (another favourite) and Lions and polar bears which were all open and operational. Apparently fall is prime zoo season because they have a bunch of stuff going on for Halloween and other seasonal festivities coming up soon. Archie and I will check back perhaps this week since we missed the bugs, reptiles, gorillas and some other favourites.
I tried out the new camera. I just love it! And the software that came with it is fabulous! Here's a picture I took of a really pretty purple plant. I love closeups of plants and flowers. I've got tons of them.
Archie decided to take a break on some chick's lap. He's got a way with the ladies even at the tender age of five!
Fall seems to have finally fallen as we are experiencing much cooler temps than the past several weeks. We're in the 40's at night and around 70 in the daytime. It's been heavenly! Hooray!! No more air conditioning needed! It's a great time for outdoor activities! Yesterday while I was at the grocery store, I found some gourds. I grabbed eight of the wartiest, most interesting gourds, along with some Indian corn and brought them home for Morgan and Archie to make a nice fall centre piece.

It was a hoot watching the two of them outside finding other fall items to go with it. Archie kept picking up stuff that WOULDN'T be good, like squashed acorns to show to Morgan that those wouldn't work. Morgan kept asking him to show her stuff that they could actually use instead of stuff they couldn't, and telling him how helpful he wasn't! I got my $7.50 (cost of the gourds and Indian corn) worth of enjoyment just watching them working together! Well, this is their finished product:
They did a beautiful job!! It was a nice little seasonal project for Archie and it got Morgan away from the tv and computer for a short while! The great part is that we will be able to use them for Halloween decorations and whatever else, just having to re-arrange and try something new. The trees in our yard are beginning to turn and we are getting some nice yellows, reds and orange colours in our leaves. I'm super excited to see my first official fall.
Since its been a little chilly in the evenings, we were able to break in the new patio fire pit. We've done two nights and I'm all out of wood. I guess I'll have to actually purchase fire place and fire pit wood for the first time ever, since I don't have a neighbour from whom I can steal it (like Old E does)! Here's a picture of Archie enjoying the torch he made!
