As I said in a previous post, my desktop computer's mother board failed. I can live without a lot of things, but I hate HATE being without my computer and the internet. It's just one of those things that make life extra nice. So when the computer wouldn't work, my first thought was to go to the Best Buy since they have a Nerd Herd in the store. Of course, they didn't have the part, nor could they direct me to anyplace on the West Side of Cincy that might have a new mother board. So I figured, I was there...with no kids...perhaps I'd mosey over to the gaming section and have a quick look at the Wii products.
As I approached the gaming section, I saw a little man wheeling out some products for the shelves. Oh, HAPPY DAY!!!! It was Wii Fit!!! I've been looking for quite some time for the Wii Fit. I've chatted up the salesmen at the store before. The Wii Fits only last about an hour on the shelves, IF they even get any in the store. So of course, I grabbed one. You know...as a consolation prize...since I couldn't purchase my mother board! ;-)
I did get fussed at just a little when I got home for the purchase. Because it's so close to Archie's birthday...And Christmas...But I got the Wii Fit for me, not Archie. It's so fun! And just in time for winter! The winters here are so dreary and gray. Not good going outside weather for the vast majority of the time. So Archie and I try to get about thirty minutes of playtime on it most days. The hula-hoop game is the most amusing to watch your family members play. I have to wonder what people walking down the sidewalk are thinking at night when we play. I think even Phillip enjoyed playing as well! I must get a video snippet of him doing the hula-hoop game!
So last Sunday, we had a Wii Fit marathon session after church. Around 4, Phillip decided he wanted to head out to Stone Lick State Park to check out the fall colours for sunset. He did it when he was in Cincy two years ago (before we moved up) and said it was fantastic.
Unfortunately, the fall colours aren't good at all this year because of our Hurricane wind storm a few weeks ago. Some of the trees are green, some were stripped of leaves during the storm, and some are a combination of brown with a bit of colour. They are very confused. But we had a nice evening out there anyway. We were about a week too late for the leaves, I think.
We hiked on a little trail beside the lake and came upon this picnic table in the lake. A good place for a picnic, don't you think?
We saw these things on the way to the park some on trees and some on the edge of the road. They are round and bumpy and kind of hard. Being the good homeschoolers we are (you can learn something everywhere!) our first thought was to smash it so we could see the innards. We had to use a sharp rock and hack it open. It smelled kind of gross and looked like this:
I will do more research.
This is as nice as the sunset colours got. It kept clouding over during sunset, and as I previously mentioned, the colours aren't very spectacular this year.
Lawrence spent the entire hike sleeping.
We went to a nice restaurant for dinner. So when we got there, Lawrence was wide awake and was ready to be a very fussy baby. I dunno what it is about me eating something that makes him want to fuss. So Phillip and I took turns taking him out of the restaurant. So much for sitting down together for a nice family dinner. I guess we won't be restaurant material for the next several months. I had to get most of my meal in a box to take home. Incidentally, Lawrence squalled while I ate the meal the next day at home too.

We have those gross green bumpy things here too! We find them on Walnut Creek so I was just assuming they were probably seeds pods from a Walnut tree maybe??? I haven't done formal research though...
