I have reached the end of my rope regarding computer issues. After pouring much time and effort in an unstable system, I finally decided I was DONE. Although I am appreciative of the few months my brother's computer bought me, it was time to move on.
So now, I am the proud owner of a new (refurbished because I can't afford the laptop I really want brand new!) Dell laptop! Unfortunately, when you buy refurbished, you get what you get. The much dreaded Windows Vista operating system. I got the premium version, so it could be worse, I guess.
I feel much like I'm at 'the other' Kroger to get some cheese. You know, not the usual one where you have the lay of the land memorized and know where all your regular grocery items are. When you 'run' in there and look in the dairy section for the cheese (because it's taco night and you're caught unprepared) and it's not there. You do the quick mad walk all around the perimeter (because all stores stock the cheese on the perimeter of the store) and it's not there. You're just at the point where you are about to stand in the middle of the store and scream out loud that "All I want is some damned cheese!!!!" because all the little stock guys are out to lunch or something? Then you happen to run down the frozen foods isle to short cut to the front of the store and find that some moron decided that the cheese would look really great in the bin next to the frozen breads. *sigh* That's what Vista is like for me. It'll take some getting used to, I suppose.
Otherwise, I really like the new computer. It's fast with lots of storage. I got a 13.5 inch monitor. I was hoping for the 15 inch, but the ones with the specs I needed were a bit out of budget for us. When my computer arrived, I was very pleased with the size. It's perfect! It's easy to tote around and when I need a larger display, can connect my regular monitor.
Lawrence has gotten in tooth number three (two of them arebottom front) with a surprise. The third tooth is not the front top one. It's the eye tooth. So when he grins at us, he looks very amusing with his snaggle tooth! He started crawling week before last, and began pulling himself up on furniture last week. I wonder if he'll be walking by next week!
We went to a Reds game last week. I have pictures, and will post them when I get the camera software loaded. There's nothing quite like a nice, cold game day beer to make the game just perfect! We were even featured on the jumbo tron!!! It was very cool! Of course, I tried to get a picture of us on there, but they moved on to another squealing, joyful family by then.
Phillip's been working out of town for the past two weeks, so I've been feeling kind of swamped with stuff to do. I barely get in a bath when he's gone. And we all know how much importance I place on my bathtime! So I was super happy he came back yesterday, a couple of days earlier than expected.
Archie and I met up with some homeschooling families at Jump Zone yesterday. I know Archie had a blast, but it was a very rejuvenating day for me as well to chit-chat with the other Mamas there. I miss having a close-knit group like we did in Mobile. I feel very comfortable with these particular families.
The weather has warmed up enough to do a fire pit on the back porch in the evening, complete with marshmallows. We grilled out a couple of times too. It's nice to be starting our summertime activities again!

nothing like a good fire on the back porch with some "borrowed" firewood
