Lawrence covered me with sucker-drool. And it was not a little. It was a lot. So we had a quick bath after we got back to Billy's. My aunt and cousin prepared a nice spaghetti dinner. Afterward, Uncle Billy took us to a really nice park to walk off the delicious dinner. I want to say it was called North Bay Park. It had a great board walk that went around a lake chock full of lily pads and other water plants. Very beautiful. We went right at sunset, so it was extra nice.
Another really neat thing about my Uncle Billy is that he knows lots about different types of plants and animals. Many years as a scout leader, homeschooler, etc. So Archie was getting quite an education on all the plant and animal life. I wish I knew as much as he did about that kind of stuff!
Sara, Lawrence and I enjoyed seeing all the water plants.
This is all water plants, up until the purplish row of plants.
I'm a sucker for a good sunset pic. How I wish I had a better camera and could take better pictures in general.
The honeymooners at sunset. Awwwwwwwwww!!!!!!
Me and the kiddos.
The next day, we visited a lake. I can't remember which one, but we had a nice picnic together and a great time! If I could get my re-capping done in a more timely manner, then perhaps I wouldn't forget things. *sigh*
Cathy and Regular E are playing in the sand together. Some things don't change, I guess.
Greg and Mike spent lots of time blowing up this huge floatie only to have it sadly deflate again shortly afterward.
Lawrence enjoyed a short snooze on Mom's lap. After he woke up, he was ready for more swimming!
The day after the beach, we went to the Toledo Zoo. Toledo and Ypsi are very close in proximity. I had never been to the Toledo Zoo and was looking forward to it. We have a membership to Cincinnati Zoo (thanks, Julie!!) so I was pretty psyched about getting in for free. Apparently the reciprocity program has made changes. We had to pay half price instead of getting in for free. Disappointing, but the zoo itself was great!
I dunno if there are any other Graeme Base fans reading this, but we love the book Anamalia. Lazy Lions Lounging in the Local Library.
The gorillas were very entertaining. They were wrestling around and having fun together. They spooked the crowd by lunging at the windows! It was Mom's favourite thing about the zoo! Regular E and Archie are watching from here.
