Yes, I've heard it's been a while. I still have intentions of keeping up with this blog, but you know about intentions and the road to hell. So I thought I'd post a little update so the family and friends will know I'm still here and still alive.
I have officially hit the pregnancy wall. And I remember this from about two weeks before Lawrence was born as well. I am done. My body won't do Yoga until after birth. I can only get one constructive thing done per day. If it's laundry, then I can only get the stuff in the washer and dryer. Someone else has to take it up and down the steps. If it's grocery shopping, then someone else has to unload and put away everything. Yesterday, Phillip was a real blessing and even shopped for me. I just had to provide a list. Dinner is iffy these days because I'm too tired to stand there and cook it. School is iffy as well, and I find myself relying more on workbooks, computer games and educational tv. I'm too tired to sit, but too tired to stand.
I was reading my Texan friend's blog and was absolutely jealous about all the fun outdoor stuff they've been doing. I would like nothing more than to go for a hike in Mount Airy Forest, have a picnic, get out of the house, ANYTHING! But every time I leave the house, I am just looking for a good place to sit down. Toward the end of my pregnancies I find myself asking, "Will I ever have the energy to run, walk, or do anything fun again?" I have been commissioning Phillip to get Archie out of the house once in a while. They went ice skating, shopping together, to a car show downtown, and some other fun stuff. While I really miss doing stuff with them and getting out of the house in general, I know that it would make for an exhausting day. And I'd only get out to find myself looking for a great place to sit down.
So my lack of updates has a lot to do with me not really doing anything very exciting. Also about not wanting to publicly bitch and moan, not wanting to dwell on how crabby, weepy, or tired I am. So I won't.
I had a bit of a computer snafu with the ever-crappy Windows Vista and am now working on my brand new Windows 7 operating system. Time will tell if it is an improvement in stability, but so far I am liking it.
Phillip is now working 'in town' for the duration of my pregnancy. I am very pleased about that! Hopefully he'll be 'in' for the next couple of months as well. It's difficult to be as tired as I have been feeling, being isolated from family due to distance.
For those who don't know yet, we have hired a midwife to help in the delivery of this baby. We decided to have the baby at home. For many reasons, but partially due to the hospital's policy of not allowing children under 14 to visit due to Swine Flu. Gimme a break...an adult is just as likely to sneeze or wipe his nose then touch a door handle as a child. Sometimes you do stuff without thinking about it. Plus, being homeschoolers, we are generally out of the 'germ pool' population. Archie was there and was able to see Lawrence's birth and I felt like we should add our new family member as a family...not leave Archie at home and then show back up a couple of days later with the new kid.
I did tons of research on having a homebirth and it took quite some time before I felt 'right' about a particular midwife. I really like her and am looking forward to an intervention-free birth. So prayers and positive thoughts would be welcome in that regard, if you think about it!
Archie has been enjoying Magic Class (I am guaranteed at least one or two performances per week!), Comic-Drawing class, and Art class. He has made some really awesome pieces! I really need to photograph all his pieces for a montage here. I will try to get that done soon. And of course, we're back in Circus Class as well. There are so many great opportunities, it was really hard to choose the ones we did! But having only one vehicle (motorcycles and winter do not belong together!) has made many of our choices for us. We can only participate in stuff within walking distance. Circus class is the only exception. And a friend (also in Circus Class) has offered to pinch-hit for me to get Archie there when I can't. Blessings, indeed! I am extremely grateful for that offer!
Lawrence is still getting into everything he can at every opportunity. He is a lot of fun despite his propensity for trouble-making! He isn't talking much yet, mostly baby-babble. Except he makes specific sounds when referring to Archie or Daddy. He says 'Go' when he gets impatient in the supermarket line. I was feeling the same way, except I didn't say it!
So I will really work on getting some Christmas photos up and being a better blogger in general. I will really try. But you know about intentions...

A midwife how cool!!! I wanted to do one of those water births with Summer but never could find any info on it in Mobile.
I agree about the germs. No matter how hard anyone tries you can't stop germs from roaming around.
I'm glad Philip will be there for you a couple of weeks as I am sure you will have your hands full.
Hopefully your mom is going to be able to come help out.....
