Even though it seems like I've been doing nothing of note for a long time, lack of posts and whatnot, I've actually been busy. Not here, but busy in my everyday life. For a little over the past year, I have felt hopelessly and utterly behind. I just can't keep up. I get one mess cleaned up just in time to begin working on the next one. I have recently come to the conclusion that I need help. Or servants. Phillip says that's what the kids are for, but I suppose if I didn't have kids, I wouldn't need servants.
I have recently decided that it's time to do some things for ME. I want to begin my hiking again. I've been feeling sluggish and unmotivated. While I'm not unhappy with my current weight, I could stand to lose the last eight or so pounds from pregnancy and regain some lost muscle tone. I'm so exhausted by the end of the day, I haven't been able to get through a whole book in months without ultimately giving up and losing interest. Which is weird for me because I love reading so much. Thankfully I receive subscriptions to The Smithsonian and National Geographic magazines. An article is about the best I've been able to do as far as decent reading goes. And even that sometimes takes two or three days.
I want to begin blogging on a more frequent basis. So I think I will set a goal of one post a week. I've got tons of stuff to write about--goofy things happen all the time around here, but I just can't muster the creativity. I do feel a touch guilty for not keeping a running account of this year. Especially since babies don't keep forever and I want to record as much as possible. I would've loved to have something like this from my parents or grandparents...I'm sure that they have gone through some of the same stuff as me, and more.
Don't get me wrong, I do get small breaks in the day, but I feel so brain-dead that I just can't muster up any intellect to blog, read anything with any substance or do anything but sit there and stare bug-eyed at the computer screen. I want to go more places and do more things. But it just doesn't seem to be my season.
So I am working on delegating some of the load and restructuring. I'm making a goal of hiking and blogging once a week. Sounds pretty lame, but I've got to start somewhere.

I miss hiking too!! The older Summer gets the more she balks at simple pleasures like hiking...one of these days I will be able to leave her at home.....
Raising kids, although joyful, can also be exhausting and thankless. Hang in there, they'll be grown one day and you can get back to you life...
