We are very fortunate that Auntie Julie has been so generous as to purchase a yearly zoo pass for us for Christmas again this year! The Cincinnati Zoo is not something that can be 'done' in one day with children so we only see a portion at a time when we go. Everyone has their favourite places which we must visit every time we go, but it seems like there is always something new going on. Winter is the best, BEST time to visit the zoo. No crowds, the animals are up and about, and, of course, you get rock star parking since no one else is there! Our weather has been unseasonably warm this winter. No crowds, comfortable weather with sunshine, and frolicking animals. It was a must-do zoo day!
The relatively new night creatures exhibit was really good. The owl below was front and center in his enclosure and stared right at us!
The weather was so pleasant that we were able to eat our picnic outside! Notice all the empty tables and chairs around us!
Baby really enjoys her string cheese sticks!
Some people might find it rather alarming to be sitting on an alligator's back. Not Baby.
Since Baby was being so brave, Archie got his courage up as well.
Oh, no! I hate it when that happens!
Everyone enjoys the Manatee tank. Lawrence was most impressed with the catfish swimming on the bottom.
I've mentioned before about how the animals are more active in the wintertime. This day, they were all quite bananas! The lion was pacing and he roared a few times which gave everyone pause. It wasn't as loud as the time the lion roared at the Wilmer Zoo in Mobile, but it was still quite something!
The primates were in excellent form! They were very entertaining and the kids are still imitating their calls and antics.
Thank you so much Aunt Julie!

We NEVER tire of the zoo..any zoo. We also prefer to visit the zoo during off seasons and especially before it gets to warm to enjoy it. You are right, the animals always are more active when it's cooler.
