A Fabulous Game Day

I have been dreading this baseball game all week. It's my first one to "solo" with the kids. Without Phillip. I almost didn't go because I'd have to figure out fighting the crowd, figuring out parking, the best route, etc. all by myself. I'm still not 100 percent sure of where I'm supposed to be going around here. I decided to suck it up and be a man and give it a shot.

I began by shopping for Cincinnati Reds shirts for Archie and myself. You know...to get into the spirit. I've been meaning to get some Reds gear for some time now. It seemed like the perfect excuse...um...I mean reason.
We started out in the morning at Steve and Barry's, a great store if you want cheapie University wear. But not MLB wear. We then went to a few other stores I happened to see along the way and got some shoes and shirts for me and some sandals for Archie. Then, after being very hopelessly lost for about an hour, we made it to Kols where I found a Reds shirt for me in the Boys section (the mens' were too big and there was no MLB wear for women) and one for Archie. Morgan had one from Phillip already.

We left for the game early enough for me to get lost and us still not be late. That's what I do up here...leave with enough time for me to get lost EVERYWHERE I go!!

We made it without getting lost and even arrived early enough for the National Anthem and the ceremonial first pitch. We were way, way, way up there in the stadium, so needless to say, I was "feeling the burn" after walking up all those steps.
Nothing tastes quite as good as a nice cold game day brew, especially after the hike up there. Archie "needed" some cotton candy after scraping his leg on the stadium chair and Morgan got some nacho chips with some lovely congealed cheese. Yuck!!

I missed Phillip so much at the game! He would've had a blast and Archie kept making observations that "Daddy would really like to see". I really missed Phillip, but still, we had such a good time!! The game was exciting...tied two to two and went into a 10th inning. Then the other team got an additional 8 runs in the 10th inning. 8 runs!! Most whole games don't even score that high!!
After the game there was a FABULOUS fireworks show...It was better than most 4th of July shows I've seen! We were very impressed! We'll definitely have to do another fireworks game. I think Morgan had a very good time...even though she was with her family!! Our very next one will be without Phillip as well, because he's working over that weekend. I wanted to take my parents and Regular E so I got some extra tickets for that game during their time here in Cincinnati. I think we'll all have a great time! I'm really looking forward to it now that I know I can do it by myself!
