After our whirlwind week in the fabulous town of Paducah, Kentucky, we decided to go to the Goodguys Hotrod Show in Columbus, OH. We headed out about 4 hours after we arrived back in Cincy. We arrived at Old E and Ann's house around 12:30 am. We were completely exhausted! Old E and Ann were excellent hosts, despite the late hour and we crashed. We didn't get to the car show until mid afternoon.
The show was huge!! I've never seen such a huge collection of hot rods ever! I know we didn't get to see a lot of it, but the part we did see was really neat. I was amazed at the swap meet because of all the crappy junk selling for such high prices! I mean, who would pay $400 for two ripped up old Chevelle seats? You'd probably have to put at least that much into recovering them!
I took this picture of some guy's car which attracted a lot of attention...How does he see around that thing to drive it? Do you think he's compensating for something?
They had a sort of ski lift type of ride where you could check out the whole grounds. Archie and Morgan took a ride. I'll have to get Morgan's pictures from the chair and insert them when I get a chance. Here they are in the chairs taking off:
Here they are in the sky:
We walked around til closing and made it back to Old E's and Ann's house. They fed us pizza and salad and we had a nice time around the firepit. Except for when Old E burned Ann's foot with the hot piece of coal on the step. It was all his fault. :-)
Archie and I went to church with them on Sunday and then after a demonstration of the guy across the street's hot rod, we headed home. It was really great to get home! I was extra crabby because the previous night Archie and Phillip were crowding me out of the bed in which we were sleeping. A full-sized bed is too small for two adults and a kid who likes to spread out! He will be sleeping somewhere else next time. We will bring his sleeping bag! Archie, I mean...not Phillip.
I guess I should clarify that! :-)
