Hey there, Mr. Grumpy Gills. When life gets you down, do you wanna know what you've gotta do? Just keep on swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim! ~Dory (Finding Nemo)

Cincinnati Zoo Camp

Archie attended camp at the Cincinnati Zoo for a week in June. It was a big deal because it was the first time I had ever sent him off in the care of strangers for the whole day. Since we homeschool, I have never done that before. I did cry all the way home the first day I dropped him off. He, on the other hand, was quite ready for me to hit the road. After we got there, I gave him the spiel about if he gets lost, look for people in the zoo uniform and tell them he’s part of the Elephant Group, blah, blah, blah. His response was, “OKAY, Mama!” in a very exasperated tone of voice. We got him a lunch box in which to bring his lunch every day. He LOVED packing and preparing his lunch! He was super excited about the lunchbox itself and showed all our neighbours when we purchased it.

I got a lot done at home that week. Including getting his room decluttered and reorganized to be ready to add baby furniture. The decluttering and reorganization took a looong time!! But I was able to get it done with no questions asked and no arguments about exactly what was going to Goodwill and what would stay. So far, no objections or questions have been asked about the tossed items. I have to say I hate, hate McDonalds toys and am glad to be rid of them!

At the end of the week, Archie said how much he liked Zoo Camp and how he was sad it was ending and that he wanted to go back the next week! He got an award for being the Most Behaved Camper. He had a terrific time and has already told me he wants to go again next summer!
