Hey there, Mr. Grumpy Gills. When life gets you down, do you wanna know what you've gotta do? Just keep on swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim! ~Dory (Finding Nemo)

Destination: Alabama

My cousin from Marysville, OH is tagging along on our trip to Alabama. It's been nice having him along because he's been super helpful and we've enjoyed his company. He and Archie have been getting along well and he even helps me with Lawrence! :-)

Our drive to Alabama began very well. We left Cincy a little before 5am on Sunday morning. The great thing about driving, not only early, but on Sunday morning was that there was no one on the road. No one. We zipped through Kentucky and Tennessee. Going through Alabama was a little more challenging because of the rain, fog, and rain again. I had to turn off cruise control because of the rain and forgot to reset it. I was riding along, the last car in a line of traffic clipping right along when all of a sudden, I saw it. The police car heading down the exit ramp. *sigh* So the fabulous County of Antagua will be receiving a tidy sum from me for my speedy ways. Blech.

When I got pulled over, Archie was very concerned. He asked if we would be going to jail. Well, I wasn't going that fast!!!! So Andrew reassured him that no, we would NOT be going to jail for speeding. Then Archie asked what I would do if the policeman asked me to put up my hands. I told him that I guessed I would just put them up. Archie said he would put his hands up too, if the policeman asked me to do it. :-) Gotta love that kid! I'm guessing that the Snowball Incident of January 2008 where Archie was afraid he was going to be arrested is still something that haunts him.

So back on the road we went, speed properly in check. We made it to Mobile in good time, 10 and 1/2 hours!

My folks' house looks amazing! My Mom did a great job choosing colours and fixtures. The new design for the upstairs is fantastic as is the 'new' living room. I was very impressed with the final result. Makes me wanna spruce up my house. A little paint would go a long way in my house.

They are still moving in, unloading boxes and getting settled. As of last night, Dad and I got the household stuff all unloaded. The only remaining boxes are the quilt room contents. Which will be a big job. There is still all the wall stuff to hang up (another big job) and a few other settling in things to do.

Archie and Andrew are heading to Gulf Shores tonight to spend the night with Auntie Julie, who is taking them to the beach tomorrow. I dunno why she didn't take Lawrence too!

After we get my folks more settled in here, we will begin our 'vacation' part of our trip. We are looking forward to spending a little time with my in-laws after they get back from Atlanta next week, and are also looking forward to Phillip getting here this weekend.

Oh, and it's hot here. Humid, tropical, sweaty, miserable hot. Real hot. I even sweat at night. It's hot.
