Hey there, Mr. Grumpy Gills. When life gets you down, do you wanna know what you've gotta do? Just keep on swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim! ~Dory (Finding Nemo)

Weekends

This photo has nothing whatsoever to do with our weekends...I just was pretty proud of this picture. A bee face!!! You have to click it big to appreciate it. I was snapping pictures of this and that a couple of weeks ago, and didn't even notice this one until I was moving my photos from my camera to the computer.

We've been rather busy the past couple of weekends. Over Memorial Day Weekend, we had Reds tickets. Since we were already heading downtown for the game, I decided that we would go a few hours early to check out A Taste of Cincinnati. I guess it's similar to a chili cook-off in that all the local restaurants set up a tent and have various contests for the best food. And you can buy tastes of whatever they're serving up. I went to this two years ago. It was okay...not anything I would do unless I were already going to be downtown anyway.

It was super crowded. And hot. We sampled a few things, and A Taste of Cincinnati quickly got tiresome. We took the opportunity to check out the observation deck on the tallest skyscraper downtown: The Carew Tower! I've gotta say, it was the highlight of our time downtown! The observation deck is an open air deck at the top of the building. We were up fifty stories. Here is a view of A Taste of Cincinnati from Carew Tower:

On the lower left corner of this picture, you can see an overhead view of Fountain Square and the infamous Tyler Davidson Fountain, as seen on WKRP in Cincinnati. You need a magnifying glass!

A view over the Ohio River into Kentucky. The center bridge is the Purple People pedestrian bridge. Unless the weather is really crummy, we tend to take our visitors to the river front to walk to Kentucky.

Phillip and Archie on the observation deck.

Lawrence and I. He was keeping shady and cool in his backpack carrier.

A view of the meandering interstates and the Ohio River.

After all that, we headed for the ballgame. They were giving away cool Reds caps and we all got one! Phillip thought it might be a good idea to get a Watermelon Chill (like a more condensed version of the Icee) for Lawrence. Archie ate most of it, and half way through decided it was waaaaay too sugary to continue eating it. Now you know it was REALLY sugary for it to be too much for Archie!

Lawrence really liked the Watermelon Chill. Here is a video of Archie depriving him of a spoonful and him getting more and more concerned he wasn't going to get any more!

Love the city pics! It looks like Cincy has more "spaghetti" roads than Austin does. I used to love to watch WKRP so I love the tidbit trivia.

Also LOVE the video of Lawrence and Archie with the sugar treat...too funny!
