To everyone else who has already seen and grown tired of my statuses on Facebook during the year, my apologies. I will try to insert pictures and comments to make it fresh. Mostly, I wanted to have a record of my day-to-day gripes and joys to have as a record for my very sparse 2010 yearbook.
While getting these together, it was kind of an enlightening project. I noticed, for example, that at the end of January and throughout February I was a bit, well…gripey about everything. Perhaps being huge, tired and chock full of hormones at the last month of pregnancy is a good excuse. Yes. I think I’m going with that.
Other than that, I was pretty pleased about how I feel like I come across for the most part. I have some Facebook friends whose status updates contain only comments complaining about how horribly others treat them. Or some that are only sticky-sweet, chock full of rainbows and cupcakes. Both of the above are better than the ones who contribute NOTHING AT ALL to the community. They ask for your ‘friendship’ only to give nothing. No status updates to have an exchange of witty repartee. No photos, nothing. Give me SOMETHING to work with here! So it was my hope to NOT come across one dimensional, but as a real person who has great days, mediocre days and horrible days. Just folks.
While going through my Facebook year, it was nice to see some joys as well as some crabbing. That’s what it’s all about! On occasion, I’ll hear statements about Facebook users such as, “I don’t do Facebook…I want to remain happily married” or some other such remark. I certainly realize Facebook can be a colossal time-waster, a killer of an already-dying marriage, etc. However, for me, it has been great for being able to keep up with others over long distances. Seeing new babies of cousins and old friends I don’t regularly see, being able to participate in the joys and crabbing of others, watching others grow, and finding family I didn’t know I had! Like any tool, it needs to be used properly or you can hurt yourself or others.
So I’d like to present, my Facebook year a month at a time. Any of my comments for the purposes of this blog are italicized.
JANUARY
In January, I was large, pregnant and large. And heavy. And large. I am STILL thankful, a year later, that I am back to a regular, people-sized shape. So being large and heavy, with a heavy one-year old Lawrence, I didn’t go out much unless I absolutely had to.
Jennifer D.:
is ready to get the Christmas stuff outta here! A mess-free living room would be nice right now.
----------------------
spent new year's eve / day just where I want to be! Glad I'm an 'old fogey' and enjoy being at home hangover free and having a great start to the new year!
------------------
is frustrated that the Nintendo DSI doesn't use an mp3 format. Had to download itunes for a conversion. blech.
Archie got a Nintendo DSI for Christmas and we were still noodling through how to use it.
----------------
is really tired of the cold and snow. Would like to pass some of it on to our Southern counterparts. Here, take it! Before I have to get out to go to the grocery store!
----------------
is glad I went to the grocery store yesterday. Grocery shopping the day before a snowstorm is very much like grocery shopping the day before a hurricane.
We had a LOT of snowstorms during the winter of 2010!
----------------
the best thing about snow storms is sitting inside with a cuppa tea in front of the fireplace and watching the snow fall! Not gonna think about shoveling. Nope.
-----------------
has a negative attitude this evening. Kids can't go to bed fast enough!
-----------------
wonders why I even bothered cleaning up my living room this morning? All the toys grew legs and walked back to their previous places on the floor.
-----------------
back to the ole Monday grind. Blech. More coffee, please.
-----------------
is thankful for unexpected blessings. I'm without a vehicle today, but am not having to trudge back through the snow, ice and cold with the baby to pick up my kiddo from Magic Class! Thanks, Carol! :-)
I was without a vehicle most days during the winter, because Phillip couldn't drive the motorcycle to work and had to take the car. Carol was super nice many times during the winter to take Archie to and from the classes that our kids took together! Walking through that snow and ice while I was hugly pregnant and toting Lawrence was the pits!
-----------------
Crabby kids, crabby Mama, and a whole list of stuff to do today. Not good.
------------------
wishes the Saturday Morning Cartoon fare was better nowadays. Whatever happened to Looney Tunes and Smurfs for those of us who don't 'do' cable tv or satellite?
------------------
is considering becoming a member of the cellular phone crowd. Maybe.
------------------------
must get out of jammies before it's time to get back in them.
I wrote this around 4 in the afternoon!
-----------------------
is off to circus class!
-----------------------
is having trouble getting motivated this morning.
-----------------
feels like a slug and is ready to go back to bed. :-/
--------------------
enjoyed having Susie and her kiddos over this afternoon! Adult conversation...how I've missed you! :-)
-------------------
thinks Vista is stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid! I hate using strange computers. Feels like I'm cheating on my real one.
------------------
Anyone have any experience with Windows 7? Like it or hate it? Vista and I seem to be butting heads lately.
-----------------
thinks only insane people are up at 5am. Hopefully some more sleep is headed my way!
Another pregnancy gripe...so huge it's difficult to get comfortable in any position!
-----------------
still hasn't gotten my Windoze fixed. Will begin blogging again as soon as I am back on home territory as far as computers go.
-----------------
is anticipating the new Operating System in the mail soon. Anything's gotta be better than Vista!
-----------------
has been reduced to using the crappy computers at the library for Internet usage. :-( Blech. The spacebar only works about half the time. Typing this status update has taken forever!
-----------------
is a bit tired of being round-shaped.
-----------------
is happy to have a functional computer again! Yay!
-----------------
thinks my Cub Scout looked quite dashing at church for Scout Sunday this morning! :-)
-----------------
had a great time at girl's nite out and is ready to snooze.....zzzzzzzzzzzz
----------------
I didn't take very many pictures at all during January! Here are two:
Peanut butter and jelly time!
Yes, we are the annoying neighbours who actually encourage the deer in our yard by feeding them!
