A shout-out goes to the staff and kids at the Westwood Town Hall’s after school program because they have so kindly welcomed Archie to participate in all activities, even though we aren’t ‘officially’ enrolled in the after school program. We show up a couple of days per week to enjoy a snack and playtime. The staff is wonderful about keeping order and playing with the kids.
They invited Archie to attend the Christmas party. It was a very nice event and we had a nice time. There were even gifts for all the kids…not just small token things, but stuff the kids really wanted. I was totally blown away when Archie opened his present and received a Darth Vader action figure and a Stormtrooper action figure! That’s what’s great about the staff…they listen to the kids and really pay attention to how and what they are playing.
We brought cup cakes as our contribution to the Christmas Party snacks. We must’ve made a good choice, because they were all gone in no time! Most of the helpers are guys in their early twenties. They were so excited about the cupcakes, they could hardly wait till the kids got one so they could wolf down the remainder!
Here is a picture of most of the kids who play with Archie at the rec center. You can see Archie in the middle of the pack in a maroon shirt. A couple of the guys who help out are standing in back.
