Hey there, Mr. Grumpy Gills. When life gets you down, do you wanna know what you've gotta do? Just keep on swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim! ~Dory (Finding Nemo)

A Mobile Thanksgiving

Our ride to Mobile after the circus performance went pretty well. We decided to try night driving so Lawrence wouldn't get his days and nights mixed up again. He drops off to sleep the moment the car seat is buckled, so night driving made more sense. Plus he nurses less at night, so I could drive longer.

We made it in to Mobile around 6 am, I think...we would've made it sooner, but there was a wreck in Alabama that had all lanes at a stand still for about a half hour. Archie crept into bed with Bumpa and I chatted with Mom for a bit before heading off for a few hours' sleep. Phillip crashed right away! It was nice to be able to hand off the driving when we each got tired.

It was a jam-packed few days of visiting, visiting, visiting. I didn't get to see some of my homeschool buds, but we were able to have a quick visit with Dr. Joe. Here we are at his house:

On Thanksgiving, we made the rounds...first dinner at Phillip's parents' house. I took some pictures.

Back at my parents' house, we ate dinner number two, then played a little Wii, then a rousing, cut-throat game of Michigan Rummy. Here is a video of my brother, Regular E hula-hooping on the Wii Fit:

Mom was very competitive on the Wii. She was terrible at hula hoop, but after seeing Regular E catch the hula hoops with ease, had to do it until she caught at least one.

Here is a picture of us getting ready to be dealt a hand of Michigan Rummy.

The Logsdons are very competitive card players. There is a take no prisoners approach, where even children are concerned. Growing up in a household such as this, all Logsdon kids have cried over losing at cards once. Crying doesn't usually happen more than once, because you get teased mercilessly for being a "Band Aid Head". We play for pennies, but you'd think it was a large amount of money, with all the hollering and banter that goes on.

Julie was the official "crabby old lady" of the game on Thanksgiving, because she was crabbing at Sara (whose first language isn't English) and Archie (who is trying desperately to remember the difference between clubs and spades) to speak up. "Say what the cards are! I can't hear anything!!", she'd say in a fussy old-ladyish kind of voice!

Poor Archie was stuttering trying to get the words out, and Sara was translating as fast as she could, clubs, hearts, diamonds and spades. However, in true Logsdon fashion, Julie was teased mercilessly about being a crabby old lady. Archie was the big winner of the table, winning a whopping $2.16. He was super excited that now he was going to have twenty-four dollars in his wallet instead of just twenty-two!
