My Mom had two quilts showing in a quilt show in Columbus, so we drove up to view them displayed. Coincidentally, Old E (my Dad's brother) lives near Columbus, so we went for a visit. First we visited the quilt show. The two quilts that Mom had in the show are pictured here. My crummy photography skills don't really show how beautiful these two quilts are.
Here's a picture of when we first got there. The Arroyo curly locks are making another appearance:
Regular E and I stayed at the show with Mom while the others left. My brother regretted that decision as soon as he found out how long it was going to take to get her quilts after the show! He really gave her a hard time about that! I suspect it amused him to see how defensive she got when he'd fuss about having to wait for so long. So we thought a drink in the pub across the street might be a good idea to pass the time.
After we got to Old E & Ann's house, we had a nice fire out back and a good time visiting. Here's some photos of that:
If you'll notice, my Mom is wearing a Grumpy sweatshirt. :-) All that defensiveness earlier made her a little grumpy! :-) The next day we all went bowling. Archie had great fun! He went in his church clothes because he wanted to 'look good' while he bowled! It was his first bowling game. He got so excited when he would knock even one pin down! My Dad won the first game and Old E was the big wiener...I mean winner of the second. It was quite a cut-throat afternoon!
Then we went to watch Old E play softball with his church team and that was quite fun. After that, the guys (and Archie) went to play disc golf (or crisbee, as Archie calls it). It was an exhausting weekend, but was great fun. Old E and Ann were terrific hosts and we will definitely have to take advantage of their hospitality another time. See?? When people have a good time, they want to come back again to invade your space!!! Much thanks to my cousin Alex for giving up her bunk bed. Archie had a blast sleeping on the top bunk!
